Getting Stuck

During the last year and a half I have applied to more than 200 internship applications, had more than 25 interviews, built a network of over 650 people, attended 6+ career activities, built 3 websites, learned how to use 5 different tools, started my own business, and started working on completing 2 HubSpot certifications.

I have followed the steps everyone tells you to follow and even done more than most students with very little time on their hands. Yet, I haven't received a single internship offer.

It had me thinking that perhaps I still was not doing enough. I started having people check my resume, doing practice interviews, checking my cover letter, reviews on my work, etc. I wanted to know why I was not getting these positions like everyone else was. But I go no answers. Not a single one. Why if I was doing everything right, was I not going anywhere?

When I told my dad about it, he said, "Sometimes things don’t happen when we want them to. Just because you are doing everything right, doesn’t mean that it is going to work out the way you want it to. It might just be part of God’s plan that you aren’t getting the things you want right now. However, you can’t give up. Just continue applying to jobs and continue looking for ways to move forward. If you can’t get an internship right at this moment, then so what? Find other things you can do at this moment. The Lord has a plan, you just have to keep going.”

This really stuck with me. If your like me and you have tried everything but gone no where, keep going. So what if you haven't had any offers? At least you are trying. At least you are learning something along the way. At least you had faith and put everything into your present. Sometimes the only thing we can do it to persevere. Sometimes being stuck teaches us more than if we are constantly moving.
