I have decided to add other posts alongside my weekly business blog. These posts will be related to my religious preferences and things I have learned throughout my studies.
This week I was studying in the Bible, Genesis 24 - 50. During these chapters it tells about the story of Joseph in Egypt. Joseph's brothers were jealous of him so they threw him in a pit and sold him into Egypt. Joseph followed the directions of the Lord and was kept in good hands. When the famine hit the lands, Joseph's brothers came to Egypt to get food to support their family. Joseph immediately recognized his brothers, but put them through tests to find out about his family situation and wellness. Then Joseph revealed that he was the brother they had sold and asked them to stay with him. That is just a simplified version of a great story.
I have read the story tons of time but this time a learned something new. This new lesson came from Genesis 45:5. It says, "Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life." After all Joseph' brothers had done to him, he still welcomed them with open arms. He left all the judgement to God and forgave his brothers. He even saw their acts as blessings to help them in a future time. To go through that and then love them as if it have never happened, it truly remarkable.
The Lord was the first to show his outstretched hand as He gave His life for us. He has sent many other wonderful examples of others doing the same, like Joseph. Now it is our turn to leave judgement in His hands and continually reach out our hands to others. To forgive and to love all our brothers and sisters. It is up to us to stand as believers and doers of His words. "In all things and in all places."
