It's Time for Social Media!

We are going to start by going over 5 things you need to do with social media SEO. These all come from the blog post, "5 Key Social Media SEO Strategies" by Marcia Riefer Johnston in July 7, 2016.

  1. "Make your content segmented, searchable, snackable, and shareable" = every piece of your content needs to address the needs and wants of your target audience. Use their written, visual, and verbal skills to appeal directly to them.

  2. "Learn to speak spider" = this means that you keep things simple and understandable for your target audience. Keep up-to-date with their new trends and interests.

  3. "Use social media meta tags wisely" = the more your use metatags, the more your post gets shared and noticed. Make sure you are using ones that actually apply to your target audience.

  4. "Use on-page metadata wisely" = these include things like titles and links within your page. The most important are your titles so keep an eye on them.

  5. "Use an SEO-auditing toll - and understand its limitations" = you need to understand what you target audience is searching. Although it will give you a lot of words back, it is your job to understand what those words are saying.

These are all very important once you have started your social media and have gained a following. Every move your accounts make, will be noticed by your "fans" or followers. Make sure you are keeping an eye on things at all times.

Next let's consider what social media you are going to be using. There are all different types of social media accounts and you are free to use whatever you so desire. I am just going to list a few and what they are best at:

  • LinkedIn - typically used for business-to-business marketing. Best for professional work.

  • Instagram - used for business-to-consumer and small business. It is a great platform used for all different things.

  • Twitter - used for both B2B and B2C. Just depends on how you word things and the approach you decide to take.

  • YouTube - great for all ages and audiences. Typically it would be best for B2C.

Pick you social media and then create a step by step plan on how you are going to implement marketing on that platform. If you plan on continuing your business, keep your Google Ads running. If you want to end it, you can go ahead and pause all campaigns.
