The Lord Holds All Power

I feel it is time that we get back to sharing some gospel related thoughts.
Judges 8:22-23 "22 Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son's son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian. 23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the Lord shall rule over you."
I felt impressed to share this message with everyone this week. It teaches the valuable principle that the Lord holds all the power. I find this to be extremely comforting. It is knowing that someone is always by your side giving you strength and guidance when you need it.
Often, when things are repeated in the scriptures, it means they are of high importance and require our attention. This principle has been repeated in a number of different chapters throughout the scriptures. A few examples include:
Moses. After God departs from Moses presence, Moses says, "Now for this cause I know that I am nothing." Moses knew that God had all power and without Him, he was nothing.
Alma 26:11 "But Ammon said unto Him: I do not boast of my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God." Again we can see that Ammon knows that everything He has comes from the Lord.
Why is this? For what reason would the Lord want us to know that He is all powerful?
When I asked others this question, I got two answers. First, the Lord needs us to understand this principle because He is trying to humble us. When we are humble, we can see the boundless miracles and blessings the Lord is trying to provide. Being humble brings down a lot of walls that prevent us from getting closer to the Lord. Second, the Lord wants us to rely on Him. If we had the power to do everything ourselves, why would we want to turn to the Lord? Instead, the Lord acts as our guidance and light when we rely on His strength.
